Bird Watching

Winding its way through Easter South Australia and surrounded by glorious river red gums, the Murray River is home to some of the most beautiful bird life in Australia. There are several stunning reserves available to explore for those hoping to catch sight of the Spotted Nightjar or the Whistling Kite. These stunning reserves include:

Gluepot Reserve: Situated 60kms north of Waikerie, this reserve has been set aside as the last stronghold for a number of Australia’s most threatened bird species, especially the Black-Eared Miner. Gluepot encompasses one of the largest ares of the malle in Australia and features some of the land’s oldest mallee woodland. Volunteer workers ensure that a visit to the reserve will truly make your day.dsc_0185
