Designed by Adelaide-based architects, Paul and Susan Pruszinski, there is nothing else in the country that comes close to the River dream Boatels in terms of style and refinement. Get together with a group of three or four like-minded couples and get set for a cruising holiday on South Australia’s Murray River that you won’t forget in a long time. Located on the lower deck, the five bedrooms have king-size beds that can be zipped apart to form two large singles. The beds have white polycotton sheets, luxury quilts, king-size pillows, bedside tables with granite tops and lighting/blind control, walk-in robes, panoramic windows, and a glass door opening to the deck. Each bedroom has its own luxurious ensuite with a hotel-style showerhead and an ample supply of fluffy bath towels. A spiral staircase leads to the upper deck and spacious Sky Lounge. At the bow is a computer-equipped console that controls the vessel and houses the bank of monitors that register depth, speed, wind speed, wind direction, engine revs, engine hours, fuel used, fuel efficiency, sewer capacity, air-conditioning and fish finder. |
Piloting the vessel is simple, and little more than a brief introductory cruise is required before any competent driver can take the helm. Behind the nerve centre is a cluster of lounge chairs and couches, the perfect spot for long, idle afternoons while the scenery drifts past the windows. When darkness falls, you can switch on the six-channel surround-sound system with wide-screen cinema and watch DVDs or videos. Separating the lounge area from the elongated dining table is the state-of-the-art kitchen, where the long list of luxuries includes an espresso machine. Traditionally, a cruising holiday on the Murray River has had a rustic, Huckleberry Finn quality to it. With the River Dream Boatels, Huck has exchanged his fishy dungarees for designer jeans – without sacrificing a sliver of the natural wonders along the way. |
